Quest Background: Vendral, the millennium-old dragon, has awaken from his slumber and seeks a path of destruction. The only chance of stopping him is to uncover the legendary sword of Byran the Dragonsmiter. Objective: find the dragon-slaying sword and kill Vendral
Vendral will already be at your gates, but since he is invulerable at this point, the only you can do is sit back and wait for him to leave. When he's gone, train four Solarii and allow them to explore the map. There are four groups of buildings that you will find scattered around the map, the guilds in which will contain level 25 heroes who should help you immensely. Place reward flags so that your Solarii efficiently uncovers the territory.
During the course of the quest, you should aim to build your economy as strong as possible for use in sovereign spells, especially if something goes wrong in the "final battle". You may also want to construct a few wizards towers near you palace. Since you have several level 25 heroes at your service, you may want to upgrade your Agrela Temples to level 3 in case one of them needs to be resurrected.
Vendral will attack during day 7, accompanied by a group of harpies. As before, the only thing you can do is to wait out his attack. This time, however, he will not leave until day 11 or 12.
Eventually, you will uncover the sword site necessary for you to complete the quest. Once you have destroyed the site, your hero who picked up the special sword will take it to the dwarven settlement to duplicate the sword. Meanwhile, Vendral will already be on the attack accompanied by several dragons. You should have enough heroes by now to defeat Vendral, but if something goes wrong, such as if you've got several dragons already at your palace while your heroes are still clulessly roaming around, rapid fire with your offense spells to eliminate as many dragons as possible to give your repairmen a chance to protect the palace.
