Vigil of a Fallen Hero

Single Player Quest Walkthrough
Quest Background: A renown Paladin named Glohrea Oathtaker has recently fallen while on her adventures. Her death must be avenged.
Objective: Destroy the Abomination
While labeled as a master quest, "Vigil" is more of a stylish quest rather than one that's actually challenging. You start with 12 heroes all at level 10, but unable to train new heroes. While this seems like a limitation at first, the consequence is that this quest is much more straightforward and less open-ended compared to "Legendary Heroes." However, that means randomness will play more of a role. There are several buildings to be discovered on the map, including two outposts, a magic bazaar, a library, inns and trading posts. All of these buildings are crucial and it is recommended that defend them at all costs using guardhouses, especially the sorcerer's adobe and magic bazaar. The abode is the only means by which you can cast sovereign spells.
Since you won't be building any new guilds, money eventually should not be a problem. Right from the beginning, make sure you provide your heroes with a fully upgraded marketplace and blacksmith in addition to what can be found on the map. Make sure you have inns around if you haven't found them on the map yet so the heroes can have a place to rest. At the start of the quest, there will be a few a few Gorgons at the outskirts. It's possible that you lose a few heroes in the early clash. As long as you don't lose too many, it's ok.
Since you'll eventually have plenty of gold, you should place guardhouses across the map, especially at crucial locations such as the sorcerer's abode. Don't bother placing more than one guardhouses at your palace. Instead, place them at newly discovered buildings. It is recommended that you have enough money to build a few guardhouses before uncovering new buildings since buildings scattered around are difficult to defend, namely against the minotaurs that arrive around day 5. Therefore, it is best to start slowly and not assign explore flags right away but develop slowly and have you heroes near the palace to readily upgrade equipment. Its best to keep your heroes as closely as possible and let them take the early waves to earn money for equipment. All heroes should easily attain enough money to purchase the best armor, weapon, and the marketplace items.
Once you get your economy up, it will be a lot easier to control the game as you now have enough money for guardhouses and flags. As you slowly uncover the map, eliminate the undead presence on the map to focus on the abomination. The combination of using your abode spells, the placement of guardhouses and destruction of graveyards will minimize the chances of losing a hero before facing the abomination.
The abomination is quite a scary monster so a large enough bounty will be needed. Once your heroes start attacking, though, it should go down pretty quickly. Don't be dismayed if a few of your heroes die through the quest. Just a few melee heroes are enough to take out the abomination. However, if you're only left with a rogue and cultist, you'll probably need to restart the quest.
