Paladin
From HoAWiki
Devout followers of Dauros, the Law Keeper, Paladins train extensively within the Warriors Guild. Their single-minded dedication to the law makes others perceive them as painfully self-righteous. A fully trained Paladin is a significant ally in the campaigns against the evil denizens of Ardania's untamed frontiers.

[edit] Class Overview
Being able to both defend and attack with magic and steel makes the Paladin a force to be reckoned with in all stages of his or her career. Paladins have top-notch initial parry values and receive the tremendously useful Shield of Light spell for free at level 4, which adds +10 dodge, +10 parry, +4 armor, and +15 magic resist. This spell made Paladins famously strong in Majesty and with it active, the Paladin is more adept at resisting magic than any other melee class besides the Dwarf. As if that wasn't enough to keep them safe, Paladins are one of only three classes that may equip the formidable plate mail line of armor. Given the importance of solid defense in the game, the Paladin is very capable during all stages of hero development and new players will find the Paladin to be among the most forgiving classes to get started with.
Their offensive abilities are not entirely lacking either. They are the only class in the game who can equip the fearsome two-handed Greatswords. This helps makes up for the fact that strength is not their primary stat. Unlike other melee heroes which have either strength or vitality as their primary, Paladins have intelligence. This allows them to learn the Powershock spell, and function as an effective spellcaster/fighter hybrid. The availability of items with spellcasting ability such as the Ring of Mighty Devestation extends their ability to work with magic even more.
In the late game, Paladins become one of the most powerful classes, owing to their exorbitant parry abilities derived from Paladin-specific items, and their high INT at high levels, which allows significant damage in conjunction with the Ring of Mighty Devastation. The "Exploding Aura" spell allows Paladins to exceeds the damage of any ranged or melee class by relying on magic damage, while abundant defense boost makes the Paladin exceptionally durable. While Exploding Aura constitutes the majority of damage at later levels, the Paladin can fall back to melee and utilize their GreatBlade of Focus to defeat enemies that are otherwise very difficult to defeat using spells. Thus, the Paladin not only one of the most powerful classes late in the game, but also the most well-rounded and versatile.
