[edit] Class Overview
The Solarus is an interesting class in that it is a strength-based class that has natural access to attack spells abilities. The ability to attack using such spells gives the Solarus a great deal of flexibility in combat. While Fire Hammer is useful only in the beginning, the Sun Scorch spell is very helpful in disposing large numbers of foes in almost all situations. It doesn't do a great deal of damage to any one enemy, but it targets every opponent in combat. Against magic resistant foes, the Solarus can rely on its melee skill, which is further bolstered by their primary stat, strength.
In many ways, the Solarus can be seen as a jack-of-all-trades who at the same time is not a specialist in any particular area. Later in the game, playing as a Solarus becomes challenging for this reason, since the "well-rounded" approach doe not work for a number of late game powerful monsters. Because the Solarus is not an INT class, their ability to defeat high magic-resistant monsters is limited. While the strength primary stat offers high per-hit damage, combat stats are somewhat lower for Solarii due to the lack of access to the Circlet of Lycanthropy. Even though gameplay becomes challenging later on, the Solarus is always a fun class to play due to the unique construct of the class.
Notable Items
- Blazing Mace (Original schematic mace, enhances weapon and spell damage)
- Flail of Subjection (Schematic mace)
- Note: The Solarus is the only class that cannot equip the Circlet of Lycanthropy
